When it comes to choosing a caravan, layout is everything.
It’s not just about where the bed or bathroom goes—it’s about how you use your van, how you move through it, and how well it supports your lifestyle on the road.
At Salute Caravans, our range includes thoughtfully designed layouts that suit everyone from solo adventurers to full-time touring couples and growing families. Here’s a breakdown of the most popular caravan layouts—plus a separate guide to lounge configurations to help you dial in the perfect setup.

Rear Door Entry Layout
Best for: Simplicity, solo travellers & efficient living
One of the most popular entry layouts in our range, this design places the door at the rear, with the bathroom to the right, a central lounge, and a north-south island bed at the front. It offers an efficient, open-flow setup that maximises usable space—especially in compact or mid-size vans.
Depending on the model, this layout may be paired with a café dinette, an L-shaped lounge, or a centre lounge (in larger vans). That means you can tailor the setup to suit your space and lifestyle—whether you prefer a traditional dining arrangement or a more flexible lounging zone.

Mid-Door Entry Layout
Best for: Families, zoned living & protected outdoor access
In this layout, the entry door is located under the awning at the end of the bed, providing direct access into the front bedroom zone. From there, you move through to the central kitchen and living area, with the ensuite positioned at the rear.
It’s a practical choice for travellers who want defined zones for sleeping, cooking, and relaxing. The mid-door position also enhances your outdoor setup—keeping you sheltered under the awning and making entry and exit simple at rest stops.

Twin Single Bed Layout
Best for: Travel companions, easy access & flexible sleeping
Prefer your own space at night or travelling with a companion? The twin single bed layout is a standard option across the entire Salute range. It replaces the island bed with two single beds positioned lengthwise, offering easier access, added storage between beds, and greater flexibility.
This layout is especially popular with solo travellers, siblings, or couples wanting more room to move.
Available as a standard option in all Salute models.

Bunk Bed Layout
Best for: Families on the move
Designed with families in mind, the bunk bed layout provides dedicated sleeping space for kids at the rear of the van—offering comfort, routine, and personal space for younger travellers. The central zone typically features a café or L-shaped lounge for shared meals and downtime, while the parents enjoy a private island queen bed at the front.
This layout ensures everyone has their own space to relax, making it ideal for both short weekends away and extended trips around Australia.
